Onboarding Overview
Canva is browser-based with no software install required, so initial setup is mostly about configuration rather than deployment: creating the team workspace, uploading your Brand Kit (logo files, brand fonts, and color hex codes), and inviting members with appropriate roles. Most users are productive within their first session given Canva's template-driven, drag-and-drop editor.
Implementation Details
The Brand Kit is the piece worth getting right before wide rollout -- once it's populated with accurate brand fonts and colors, every new design starts from consistent building blocks instead of each person picking their own. Starter Brand Templates (locked layouts for common asset types like social posts or one-pagers) compound that consistency for non-designers.
Actionable Considerations
- Populate the Brand Kit with real, final brand assets before broad rollout -- retrofitting it after people have already created dozens of off-brand designs is more painful than doing it first
- Build 3-5 Brand Templates for your team's most common, repeated asset types before opening access broadly
- Set roles (Admin vs. Member) deliberately from day one rather than making everyone an Admin by default
