Delete an Object ACL

Last updated

What this operation supports in Google Cloud Storage

Removes a specific ACL entry from an individual object, revoking that grantee's object-level permission.

Implementation details

After removal, the object falls back to whatever the bucket's default object ACL (or IAM policy, if using uniform access) otherwise grants.

Operational considerations

This only applies to buckets using fine-grained access control rather than uniform bucket-level access.

Use cases

Revoke temporary access granted to a file during collaboration in Google Cloud Storage.

  1. Withdraw guest permissions after a project milestone in Google Cloud Storage.
  2. Limit exposure by removing outdated ACL entries on sensitive objects.
  3. Support security audits with explicit object-level access controls in Google Cloud Storage.
  4. Harden sharing by tightening object permissions in automation pipelines.
