What this operation supports in Pipedrive CRM
Creates a new deal in a pipeline stage, the core sales-opportunity record in Pipedrive. A title is required, and you can typically also set the monetary value and currency, link it to an existing person and/or organization, assign it to a specific pipeline and stage, and set an owner.
Implementation details
New deals default to the first stage of the default pipeline if no pipeline/stage is specified, and Pipedrive tracks the deal's status (open, won, or lost) separately from which stage it currently sits in.
Operational considerations
Linking the deal to an existing person or organization ID (rather than creating duplicates) keeps Pipedrive's contact records clean, since deals are the objects that actually move through the visual pipeline.
Use cases
Commonly used to automate initial deal creation from forms or other systems.
- Auto-create a deal when a lead converts in external apps.
- Populate baseline data for a new opportunity.
- Trigger downstream onboarding sequences on deal creation.
- Link related records like contacts and organizations automatically.
