How the estimate works
Small businesses are priced on their yearly owner earnings (also called seller's discretionary earnings, or SDE) times a multiple, with revenue as a cross-check. The multiples come from businesses that actually sold, from BizBuySell's published benchmarks for each trade, and they move with the size of the business. It is an indicative estimate, not an appraisal.
