Automation in LearnWorlds: the built-in Automations engine plus Zapier
LearnWorlds ships its own Automations builder -- trigger-condition-action rules that run on learner behavior (course completed, quiz failed, enrollment created) to send an email, tag the student, enroll them in a follow-up course, or adjust their access, configured visually inside the platform without needing an external tool for common cases.
Drip content scheduling is a specific, widely used automation pattern -- releasing course modules on a set schedule (weekly, or a set number of days after enrollment) rather than unlocking the full course immediately, which is configured per course rather than through the general automation builder.
For automation beyond LearnWorlds' native rules, a Zapier integration connects enrollment, completion, and payment events to external CRMs, email tools, or Slack, and LearnWorlds also exposes a REST API for custom integrations Zapier's triggers don't cover.
A common automation chain we build is completion-triggered upsell: a student finishing one course gets automatically tagged, enrolled in or offered a related course, and added to a targeted email sequence -- all from a single automation rule rather than manual list management.
We test automation rules against a handful of real student accounts before relying on them at scale, since a misconfigured trigger condition can silently enroll or email the wrong segment of students.
The result is a school that nurtures and upsells students automatically based on actual behavior, not a static course catalog requiring manual follow-up.
