Automation at scale
MailerLite Classic’s automation is a visual workflow canvas: triggers such as a subscriber joining a Group, submitting a form, clicking a link, or hitting a date field like a birthday, followed by steps like a delay, an if/then split, a move to another Group, or a follow-up send. RSS campaigns are a separate feature that auto-sends a formatted email whenever a connected blog’s feed publishes a new post, with no manual trigger involved at all.
Audience and delivery design
Classic separates static Groups, which a subscriber is explicitly added to or removed from, from dynamic Segments, whose membership updates automatically from field values or engagement — and automations trigger off Group entry and date or field events rather than Segment membership directly, so getting the trigger right starts with deciding whether a given step is a Group action or a Segment filter.
What you get
- A workflow map showing each trigger — Group join, form submit, link click, date field — and the delay, split, or send that follows it
- RSS-triggered campaigns configured to auto-send when a connected blog feed updates, with no manual send step
- Group and Segment definitions kept in sync so automation, targeting, and reporting are all reading the same audience logic
- Documented if/then split conditions and delay timings so a workflow behaves the same after handoff as it did in testing
A single welcome sequence off one Group-join trigger is the common starting point; the design gets real once several Groups feed overlapping automations, since Classic won’t stop a subscriber from entering the same workflow twice unless that’s built into the if/then logic on purpose.
Who this is for
Teams on MailerLite Classic running welcome sequences, date-based reminders, or blog-to-email RSS campaigns who want those workflows mapped and stress-tested rather than pieced together ad hoc on the canvas.
Outcomes we support
- Fewer manual sends, since RSS- and date-triggered workflows in Classic run without anyone starting them
- Documented trigger logic so a workflow behaves predictably after handoff
- Groups and Segments that stay aligned with what each automation actually targets
Classic’s automation runs entirely inside its own workflow canvas, so nothing here depends on webhooks or an outside automation platform unless a trigger genuinely can’t be expressed with Classic’s own Group, Segment, date-field, or RSS options.
