Email and abandoned-cart automation for online stores
Most shoppers leave without buying. A short, well-timed set of messages can ask them to come back, welcome new subscribers and follow up after an order. We set up the flows, write them in your voice and test them with real orders.
An available setup. We do not publish email results for The Porch Swing Store, and we do not quote revenue-from-email figures.
Why follow-up gets skipped
Building flows takes time, and the first draft is rarely tested against real carts. So many stores run a single generic reminder or none at all.
Done carelessly, email also annoys shoppers: too many messages, no way to stop, or a reminder sent after the order was placed. The flows need rules as much as copy.
What we set up
Abandoned-cart reminders
A short series that reminds shoppers of what they left, stops the moment they buy, and never nags past a limit you set.
Welcome flow
A first message for new subscribers that says who you are and points to your best categories and guides.
Post-purchase messages
Order follow-up, care or assembly tips, and a review request after delivery.
Browse and back-in-stock flows
Where your platform supports it, a nudge for products viewed and a notice when an item returns.
Your voice, your approval
Message wording you approve before anything goes out, with replies routed to a person.
List and consent hygiene
Sign-up forms, unsubscribes and sending rules set up so you stay on the right side of the law.
What to check before turning flows on
- Carts, checkout and customer data reach the email tool correctly
- A flow stops once the order is placed
- Message frequency has a cap
- Unsubscribe and consent settings work
- Wording is in your voice and approved by you
- Someone owns replies and exceptions
Your email tool and plan decide which flows are possible. We tell you what yours supports before building.
- Connect and check the dataWe connect your store to the email tool and test that carts and orders arrive.
- Draft the flowsWe write the first flows with you, starting with the abandoned cart.
- Test with real ordersWe run test carts and orders end to end and fix what does not fit.
- Launch and reviewWe turn flows on, then review opens, clicks and orders with you after a few weeks.
Questions about this playbook
Which email tool do I need?
We work with what you already use where we can, and we say honestly if your tool cannot do something you want.
Will customers get messages from a bot?
Messages follow wording you approve. Replies go to a person, and sensitive situations such as complaints are never answered automatically.
How many reminder emails is too many?
We set a cap with you. A short series that stops at purchase is usually enough, and we review it against your own unsubscribe data.
Can you promise revenue from email?
No. We describe the flows and how we will measure them, not a revenue figure.
