Product reviews that shoppers can see

Reviews help shoppers decide and help products stand out in search, but only if they are asked for, collected in one place and shown on the product page. We set up the collection and display, and make sure a rebuild does not drop them.

Available setup

An available setup. For The Porch Swing Store, the reviews app and the leave-a-review page stay on Shopify through the rebuild. We do not publish review counts or ratings here.

The problem

Why reviews stay scarce

Happy customers rarely post without being asked, and a request that arrives too early, before the product has been delivered, goes unread.

Reviews can also disappear in a rebuild. If the front end changes and the review app is not carried over, the stars vanish from product pages and from search results.

What we do

What we set up

A post-delivery request

A message timed after the product arrives, with a one-tap path to leave a review.

Reviews on the product page

Stars and review text shown where shoppers decide, loaded without slowing the page.

Review markup

Structured data for ratings only where it follows Google's guidelines and the reviews are real and visible.

Reviews through a rebuild

In a headless build, the review app is carried across or its data is displayed, so nothing disappears at launch.

Replying to reviews

A simple way for the team to reply, especially to the unhappy ones.

Google reviews alongside

Where it fits, requests that also point to your Google listing.

Measure it

What to look at every month

  • Share of orders that receive a review request
  • Reviews received per month
  • Products with no reviews yet
  • Unanswered low ratings
  • Whether review markup passes Google's tests
  • Whether reviews still show after any site change

Never write or buy reviews. Review rules from platforms and regulators require reviews to come from real customers.

FAQ

Questions about this playbook

Can you add fake reviews to get started?

No. Reviews must come from real customers, and we will not write or buy them.

Will reviews survive a headless rebuild?

They can, if the plan includes them. We carry the review app across or display its data, and test before launch.

Do reviews help search?

They can help listings stand out where Google shows ratings, but Google decides, and we do not promise it.

Which review tool should I use?

We start with what you have. If it is a poor fit, we tell you why and what the options are.

Want this for your online store?

Start with a free business evaluation. We look at your store, search presence, feed, ads and follow-up and send a short list of what we would fix first.
